Remembering Walex Founder Bob Williams

Robert Alexander Williams was born on November 5, 1930 in Washington, Pennsylvania. Bob was a brilliant man who was genuinely kind and extremely generous to everyone he met. He died on November 18, 2022, at the age of 92.

Before starting Walex Products Company, Bob held technical and research positions at Monsanto Chemical and Burlington Industries. In the late 1980’s, he and his son Bill created a portable restroom deodorizer in their garage. Soon they’d acquired several employees and customers, and over the subsequent decades, they grew the company into a leading global manufacturer of sanitation and cleaning chemicals.

Bob drove to the office every day until the age of 88. He was always the first to arrive and turn on the lights. His friends at Walex were his extended family, and he genuinely loved and cared for everyone there.

We will remember his profound generosity, sense of humor, and dedication to the company and its people. He will be dearly missed.

“This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.” -George Bernard Shaw
